Tips for the Best Baked Donuts
- Use a piping bag or ziplock bag to easily fill the donut pan.
- Don’t overmix—stir just until combined for light and fluffy donuts.
- Let the donuts cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
- For extra crunch, sprinkle the glaze with chopped nuts, coconut, or more mini chocolate chips.
Substitutions and Variations
- Make it dairy-free – Use almond milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Go gluten-free – Swap the all-purpose flour for gluten-free 1:1 flour.
- Add more mix-ins – Try white chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut.
- Cinnamon sugar topping – Skip the glaze and dip warm donuts in melted butter, then coat with cinnamon sugar!
Make a Healthier Version
- Use coconut sugar or honey instead of granulated sugar.
- Swap in whole wheat flour for extra fiber.
- Reduce the butter by using applesauce or Greek yogurt instead.
