For the Donuts:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
For the Chocolate Glaze (Optional but Recommended!):
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare the Donut Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or butter.
Step 2: Make the Batter
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed.
Step 3: Fill & Bake the Donuts
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 4: Make the Chocolate Glaze (Optional but So Good!)
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze or drizzle it over the top. Let set before serving.
