Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning mix)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup refried beans
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack)
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup salsa (optional, for extra flavor inside)
- Sour cream, guacamole, and extra salsa for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and water. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Step 2: Warm the Beans and Tortillas
- While the beef is cooking, heat the refried beans in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave to make them pliable.
Step 3: Assemble the Burritos
- Spread a layer of refried beans down the center of each tortilla.
- Add a generous scoop of the seasoned beef on top of the beans.
- Sprinkle a hearty handful of shredded cheese over the beef, and if you like, add a spoonful of salsa for extra flavor.
Step 4: Roll and Heat
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it up tightly.
- For an extra melty finish, place the burritos seam-side down in a hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the tortillas are golden and the cheese inside is gooey.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Slice in half, and serve with sour cream, guacamole, and extra salsa on the side!
