Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning mix)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack)
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup salsa (optional, for extra flavor inside)
  • Sour cream, guacamole, and extra salsa for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and water. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Step 2: Warm the Beans and Tortillas

  1. While the beef is cooking, heat the refried beans in a small saucepan over low heat.
  2. Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave to make them pliable.

Step 3: Assemble the Burritos

  1. Spread a layer of refried beans down the center of each tortilla.
  2. Add a generous scoop of the seasoned beef on top of the beans.
  3. Sprinkle a hearty handful of shredded cheese over the beef, and if you like, add a spoonful of salsa for extra flavor.

Step 4: Roll and Heat

  1. Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it up tightly.
