For the Beef Filling:
- ½ lb cooked beef (steak, roast beef, or ground beef)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (for deep flavor)
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the Sandwich:
- 4 slices thick bread (sourdough, Texas toast, or French bread)
- 2 tbsp butter (for toasting)
- 4 slices cheese (cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella)
- 2 tbsp mayo or garlic aioli (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
Prepare the Beef Filling:
- If using steak or roast beef, slice it thinly.
- If using ground beef, cook in a pan over medium heat until browned.
- Add butter, onions, and garlic to the pan and cook until soft and golden.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
2. Assemble the Sandwich:
- Spread mayo or garlic aioli on one side of each bread slice (optional but adds flavor!).
- Layer cheese on one slice of bread.
- Spoon beef mixture evenly over the cheese.
- Add another slice of cheese on top for extra gooeyness.
- Place the second slice of bread on top.
3. Grill the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
- Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until golden brown and crispy.
