Description

Cheesy Stuffed Mozzarella Onion Rings are a bold twist on the classic snack. 


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet onions, cut into thick rings
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into strips or use string cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For Dipping:

  • Marinara sauce
  • Spicy ranch
  • Honey mustard



Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Onion Rings

  1. Peel and slice the onions into thick rings (about ½ inch thick). Separate the rings and pair similar-sized ones together to create space for the cheese.

Step 2: Stuff with Cheese

  1. Place a strip of mozzarella cheese between two onion rings (one smaller ring inside the larger one), pressing them together gently. Repeat until all the rings are stuffed.

Step 3: Set Up the Breading Station

  1. In three separate bowls:
    • Bowl 1: Flour mixed with a pinch of salt & pepper.
    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs.
    • Bowl 3: BreadcrumbsParmesangarlic powder, and paprika.

Step 4: Bread the Rings

  1. Carefully coat each stuffed ring in flour, then dip into the egg, and finally coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb step for a double coating.

Step 5: Fry to Golden Perfection

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 6: Serve & Dip

  1. Serve immediately with marinara saucespicy ranch, or your favorite dip. Get ready for that epic cheese pull!
