Description

These Cheesy Taco Breadsticks are everything you love about tacos, wrapped in a golden, crispy, cheesy breadstick.A buttery pizza dough is stuffed with seasoned taco beef, melty cheese, and baked to crispy perfection.

For the Breadsticks:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup salsa (or diced tomatoes with green chilies)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend, or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for spice!)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For Dipping (Optional but Delicious!):

  • Salsa or pico de gallo
  • Guacamole
  • Nacho cheese or queso dip
  • Sour cream with a squeeze of lime

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Taco Meat

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  2. Drain excess grease and add taco seasoning, garlic powder, and salsa. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then set aside to cool.

Step 2: Roll Out the Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12×8 inches).

Step 3: Fill with Taco Goodness

  1. Spread the taco meat mixture evenly over one half of the dough.
  2. Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.

Step 4: Fold, Slice & Prep for Baking

  1. Fold the empty side of the dough over the filling, pressing down the edges to seal.
  2. Cut into 1-inch wide breadsticks using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Twist each breadstick slightly and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 5: Bake to Golden Perfection

  1. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with chili powder and salt.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Serve warm with salsa, guacamole, queso, or sour cream for dipping.
