For the Breadsticks:
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ cup salsa (or diced tomatoes with green chilies)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend, or mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for spice!)
- ½ teaspoon salt
For Dipping (Optional but Delicious!):
- Salsa or pico de gallo
- Guacamole
- Nacho cheese or queso dip
- Sour cream with a squeeze of lime
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Taco Meat
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
- Drain excess grease and add taco seasoning, garlic powder, and salsa. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then set aside to cool.
Step 2: Roll Out the Dough
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
Step 3: Fill with Taco Goodness
- Spread the taco meat mixture evenly over one half of the dough.
- Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.
Step 4: Fold, Slice & Prep for Baking
- Fold the empty side of the dough over the filling, pressing down the edges to seal.
- Cut into 1-inch wide breadsticks using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Twist each breadstick slightly and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 5: Bake to Golden Perfection
- Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with chili powder and salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
