For the Cheesecake Layer:
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Cake Layers:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Cheesecake Layer
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Beat cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, followed by sour cream and vanilla.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is set. Cool completely and refrigerate.
Step 2: Prepare the Cinnamon Cake Layers
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Let cool completely.
Step 3: Make the Cinnamon Swirl
- Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix until smooth.
Step 4: Assemble the Cake
- Place one cinnamon cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half the cinnamon swirl mixture on top.
- Add the cheesecake layer and spread the remaining cinnamon swirl mixture over it.
- Top with the second cinnamon cake layer.
Step 5: Frost and Decorate
- Beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
- Spread the glaze over the cake, letting it drip down the sides. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick for flair.
