Description
This Chocolate Mug Cake is the perfect single-serve dessert, ready in just 5 minutes from start to finish. It’s made with simple pantry staples like flour, sugar, and cocoa powder, and cooks right in your microwave for a quick, no-fuss treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended!)
Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
- In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Step 2: Add the Wet Ingredients
- Pour in the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth, making sure there are no dry pockets of flour hiding at the bottom of the mug.
Step 3: Add the Chocolate Chips
- Fold in the chocolate chips for that extra gooey, melty goodness.
Step 4: Microwave and Enjoy!
- Microwave on high for 1 minute. If the cake is still a little wet in the center, microwave for an additional 10-15 seconds. The cake should be set but slightly gooey in the middle.
- Let it cool for a minute before diving in. Top with ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup if you’re feeling fancy.
