These Easy Frosted Banana Bars are soft, buttery, and packed with that sweet banana goodness we all love.
Ingredients
For the Banana Bars:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, but recommended)
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bars cool completely before frosting.
In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy.
Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled banana bars. Slice into squares and serve!
