Description

If you love rich, fudgy brownies but want a healthier option, these Healthy Chocolate Banana Brownies are a game-changer. Made with ripe bananas for natural sweetness, these brownies skip the refined sugar and instead get their sweetness from maple syrup and dark chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (or honey)
  • ¼ cup coconut oil (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup oat flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup dark chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Stir in the maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and egg until fully combined.

Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients

Sift in the cocoa powder, oat flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix! Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Step 4: Bake the Brownies

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top for extra indulgence. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly soft.

Step 5: Cool and Enjoy

Let the brownies cool completely before slicing—this helps them set and keeps them extra fudgy. Enjoy warm or chilled!
