Description

This Homemade Mexican Pizza is a crispy, cheesy, and flavor-packed twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pizza Base:

  • 4 large flour tortillas (or corn for extra crunch!)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (for frying or brushing)

For the Taco Meat:

  • ½ lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ cup water

For the Toppings:

  • ½ cup refried beans (warmed for easy spreading)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • ½ cup taco sauce (or enchilada sauce for extra flavor!)
  • ¼ cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Sour cream, guacamole, or jalapeños (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Crisp the Tortillas

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  2. Fry each tortilla for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain on paper towels and set aside. (For a lighter version, bake at 400°F for 5-7 minutes instead!)

Step 2: Cook the Taco Meat

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 3: Assemble the Pizzas

  1. Spread refried beans on two of the crispy tortillas.
  2. Top with taco meat, then place another tortilla on top (like a sandwich).
  3. Spread taco sauce over the top tortilla and sprinkle with cheese.

Step 4: Bake to Perfection

  1. Place pizzas on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 5: Top & Serve!

  1. Remove from the oven and top with diced tomatoes, green onions, and black olives.
  2. Slice and serve with sour cream, guacamole, or extra taco sauce!
