For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
For the Beef and Veggies:
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions (optional)
For Serving:
- 2 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Set aside.
- Marinate the Beef:
- Toss the beef slices with cornstarch to coat. This helps create a silky, tender texture when cooked.
- Cook the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables:
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Toss in the bell peppers and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes, until they’re slightly softened but still crisp.
- Combine and Sauce:
- Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and stir until everything is coated and heated through. Cook for 1–2 minutes to thicken the sauce slightly.
- Assemble the Bowls:
- Divide the rice among serving bowls. Spoon the beef and bell pepper mixture over the top. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
