Description

This Apple Kompot has become a beloved staple in our house, especially as the seasons start to change and the air gets crisp.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 medium apples (any variety, peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 45 whole cloves
  • 12 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for a little tang)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for extra warmth)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Apples

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges or chunks. You can leave the skins on for a more rustic feel, but peeling them gives a softer texture.

Step 2: Simmer the Ingredients

  1. In a large pot, combine the watersugarcinnamon stick, and cloves. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Add the apple slices and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let everything cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the apples are tender but not mushy.

Step 3: Add Final Touches

  1. Once the apples are soft and the liquid is fragrant, stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract if using. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Remove from heat. You can serve the kompot warm in mugs for a cozy drink, or chill it in the fridge and serve over ice for a refreshing treat. Don’t forget to remove the cinnamon stick and cloves before serving!
