- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- ¼ teaspoon salt

Step 1: Prep & Preheat
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients
- Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gently mix until just combined—don’t overmix!
- Fold in chocolate chips (and any extra add-ins like nuts).
Step 4: Scoop & Bake
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers look slightly underbaked.
Step 5: Cool & Enjoy!
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
