- ⅔ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 1 ½ cups peeled, diced apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Prepare the Batter:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, mix milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in the diced apples, making sure they’re evenly distributed.
2. Heat the Oil:
- In a deep pan or Dutch oven, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Test by dropping a small bit of batter—if it sizzles and floats, the oil is ready.
3. Fry the Fritters:
- Using a spoon or small scoop, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
4. Make the Glaze & Coat:
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
- While the fritters are still warm, dip or drizzle them with the glaze.
- Alternatively, toss the fritters in a mix of cinnamon and sugar for a classic finish!
5. Serve & Enjoy!
- Best enjoyed warm and fresh, with coffee or cider! 🍎☕
