Description
These Sour Cream Vanilla Glazed Donuts are a soft, cakey delight with just the right balance of tang and sweetness. The secret? Sour cream, which keeps the donuts moist and tender while adding a rich depth of flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Donuts:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
Step 2: Mix the Batter
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the sour cream, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
Step 3: Fill & Bake
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched. Let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Step 4: Make the Glaze
- While the donuts cool, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
Step 5: Glaze & Enjoy
- Dip the slightly warm donuts into the glaze, letting the excess drip off. Place them back on the wire rack to set—or dig in right away if you can’t wait!
