Description

These Sour Cream Vanilla Glazed Donuts are a soft, cakey delight with just the right balance of tang and sweetness. The secret? Sour cream, which keeps the donuts moist and tender while adding a rich depth of flavor.

For the Donuts:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Vanilla Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.

Step 2: Mix the Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the floursugarbaking powderbaking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the sour creameggmelted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—don’t overmix!

Step 3: Fill & Bake

  1. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched. Let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Step 4: Make the Glaze

  1. While the donuts cool, whisk together the powdered sugarmilk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.

Step 5: Glaze & Enjoy

  1. Dip the slightly warm donuts into the glaze, letting the excess drip off. Place them back on the wire rack to set—or dig in right away if you can’t wait!
