Description

These Chewy Brownies are the perfect balance of fudgy and chewy, with a rich chocolate flavor that melts in your mouth but still gives you that satisfying bite

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for extra chewiness!)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted buttergranulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients

  1. Sift in the cocoa powderfloursalt, and baking powder. Gently fold everything together until just combined—don’t overmix!
  2. If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter now for extra gooey pockets of chocolate.

Step 4: Bake the Brownies

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it out evenly.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). For extra fudgy brownies, aim for the lower end of the baking time.

Step 5: Cool and Slice

  1. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing—if you can wait that long! This helps them set and get that perfect chewy texture.
