Description
These Chewy Brownies are the perfect balance of fudgy and chewy, with a rich chocolate flavor that melts in your mouth but still gives you that satisfying bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar (for extra chewiness!)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold everything together until just combined—don’t overmix!
- If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter now for extra gooey pockets of chocolate.
Step 4: Bake the Brownies
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it out evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). For extra fudgy brownies, aim for the lower end of the baking time.
Step 5: Cool and Slice
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing—if you can wait that long! This helps them set and get that perfect chewy texture.
