These Valentine Cinnamon Heart Cookies are the perfect blend of buttery shortbread and warm, spicy cinnamon. With a tender, crisp texture and just a hint of sweetness, they’re as delicious as they are adorable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Decoration:

  • Cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon)
  • Pink or red icing
  • Heart-shaped sprinkles or candies
  • Powdered sugar glaze (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flourcinnamon, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until the dough comes together.
  5. Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Step 2: Roll & Cut the Cookies

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out your cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 3: Decorate & Bake

  1. Sprinkle the cookies with cinnamon sugar before baking if you like a little extra sweetness.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 4: Add Final Touches

  1. Once cooled, decorate with icingsprinkles, or a simple powdered sugar glaze for an extra festive touch.
