Description

If you’ve ever dreamed of a cookie that oozes with warm, gooey Nutella at the very first bite, these Nutella Lava Cookies are a dream come true. 


Ingredients

For the Cookies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup Nutella (chilled for easier handling)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Nutella Filling:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a small spoon or cookie scoop, drop dollops of Nutella (about 1 teaspoon each) onto the sheet. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  • Make the Cookie Dough:
    • In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  • Assemble the Cookies:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Scoop about 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough and flatten it in your hand. Place a frozen Nutella dollop in the center and wrap the dough around it, ensuring the Nutella is fully encased. Roll into a ball and place on the baking sheet.
  • Bake the Cookies:
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers will still be soft.
    • Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

    • Serve warm for the best gooey Nutella experience.
